DUBAI: President Asif Ali Zardari sustained a foot fracture last night while stepping off a plane at Dubai Airport, as confirmed by a statement from the President House spokesperson on Thursday.
After the incident, he was immediately taken to a hospital, where doctors administered medical care and applied a cast on his foot. The four-week cast is expected to remain under close medical observation, with doctors recommending complete bed rest at home.
At 69, President Zardari has faced a range of health issues in recent years. In March 2023, he underwent eye surgery in the UAE. In 2022, he spent a week in Karachi’s Dr. Ziauddin Hospital for a chest infection. Amid speculation about his health, his personal physician, Dr. Asim Hussain, shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the president “is in good health.”
In July 2022, Asif Ali Zardari contracted Covid-19 but only experienced mild symptoms, as revealed by his son, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari. The previous year, he was admitted to a private hospital in Karachi due to exhaustion from frequent travel.
