Google Wallet Officially Launches in Pakistan for Secure Digital Payments

According to a statement from the tech giant, Google Wallet has been launched in Pakistan, providing users with a safer, easier, and more efficient way to make digital transactions. The app also supports digital items such as boarding passes and loyalty cards. Users can get started by downloading it from the Google Play Store.

Google Wallet Enhancing Digital Payments in Pakistan

Farhan Qureshi, Google Pakistan’s Country Director, highlighted the country’s growing digital payment landscape. “With more people embracing digital transactions, Google Wallet offers a secure, seamless, and efficient way to make payments, shop, and travel,” he stated.

Pakistani users can now tap-and-pay in stores, complete online transactions, and store boarding passes digitally. Qureshi added, “This launch will support financial inclusion in Pakistan and unlock economic opportunities.”

Banks Supporting Google Wallet in Pakistan

From today, cardholders of Bank AlFalah, Bank of Punjab, Faysal Bank Noor, HBL, Jazzcash, Meezan Bank, and UBL can add their cards to Google Wallet for contactless payments. Additionally, Allied Bank, easypaisa Digital Bank, JS Bank, and Zindigi will soon offer this feature.

Users can pay online or in-app at merchants using their linked payment cards. Google Wallet’s integration with PayFast will enable online retailers such as Onic, Gul Ahmed, Sana Safinaz, J., and KE to accept Google Pay.

Google Wallet for Travel Convenience

Beyond payments, Google Wallet simplifies travel by allowing users to store boarding passes from Batik Air and Thai Airways. Passengers will receive real-time notifications about flight changes, departure times, and gate updates, ensuring a hassle-free airport experience.

Users of Bookme.pk and Sastaticket.pk can also store train, bus, and event tickets in Google Wallet. Travelers can tap and pay securely while abroad without carrying a physical credit card.

How to Add Cards to Google Wallet

If a user already has an eligible credit or debit card saved to their Google account, it will automatically appear in Google Wallet. New cards can be added by tapping “Add a card,” reviewing the issuer’s terms, and completing the verification process. Once added, the card will be tokenized for secure transactions.

Google Wallet Ensures Privacy & Security

Security remains a top priority. Google Wallet uses industry-standard tokenization to protect transactions. A device-specific alternate card number (token) and a dynamic security code are generated for each transaction. Banks require verification before adding a card, and screen lock protection ensures that only the user can access it

With the launch of Google Wallet in Pakistan, digital payments are set to become more secure and convenient, driving the country toward a cashless economy.
