Elon Musk, the tech tycoon and CEO of Tesla Motors , has confirmed that Starlink has applied to launch internet services in Pakistan, pending government approval. Musk shared this update on X (formerly Twitter) in response to a Pakistani user’s post highlighting the transformative potential of Starlink for the country.

The user emphasized how Starlink could revolutionize Pakistan’s connectivity, offering every citizen the opportunity to grow and thrive. “Please, let Starlink be our bridge to tomorrow,” the user urged Musk.
Later, the same user posted another update tagging Musk, claiming Pakistan had granted approval for Starlink. “Now is the perfect time to bring your groundbreaking internet service to our nation. Millions await the connectivity, education, and opportunities Starlink could provide. Please expedite Starlink’s launch in Pakistan,” the post read.
Musk’s confirmation comes at a crucial time, as Pakistan ranked as the most affected country globally due to internet outages in 2024.
According to a report by Top10VPN.com, an independent VPN review platform, global internet disruptions totaled 88,788 hours last year, resulting in a financial loss of $7.69 billion. Pakistan bore the brunt of these outages, suffering $1.62 billion in losses, followed by Myanmar with $1.58 billion and Sudan with $1.12 billion.
The anticipated launch of Starlink in Pakistan could significantly bridge the digital divide, offering millions of citizens access to reliable internet and new opportunities for growth, education, and connectivity.
